Both of their parents are dead and Dante has been living on his own for several years at this point. His main reason for attending Dusk is supposedly to learn more about business, as he wants to open a sort of mercenary business of his own, focusing on hunting demons. [ Appearance ] – Dante is a blue-eyed, silver-haired devil, in short. His skin is slightly tanned - though still pretty pale and his hair really has no style other than a sort of mop on his head. Despite this, however, it ends up looking very cool and "stylish". Bangs hang into his eyes and random strands of hair fall over the collar of his signature red trenchcoat in the back. This red leather trenchcoat goes through several incarnations in the games - with various things worn underneath and alongside it. At the point in his timeline I am pulling Dante from, he wears a black vest underneath it with several metal clasps up the middle. He also wears a belt with an elaborate buckle in the shape of a skull. This belt is worn over black leather pants with high black leather boots on his feet. Somehow, in and around all of this is a harness Dante wears which keeps his guns (Ebony and Ivory) and sword (Rebellion) on his back. The sword appears to simply ... stick there, though no one is sure how this occurs. [ Personality ] – In many ways, Dante tries to come off as a sort of cool, macho-type guy. He spouts several signature phrases before, during, and after battle which end up sounding rather idiotic at times, though. But somehow, he still ends up pulling off the cool act, most of the time. Even with these things in mind, though, it's fairly obvious that Dante really doesn't care what anyone else thinks of him. He's a very free-spirited type of person and will do whatever he wants, however and whenever he wants to do it. In both novels and in the more recent anime, Dante is seen going into bars and ordering nothing but a strawberry sundae - though he does drink beer as well a couple of times. Dante is hot-headed and quick to anger but also fairly quick to let this this anger out (by fighting, usually) and then calm down afterwards and forgive (if forgiveness is needed). He can be incredibly stubborn as well about certain things and refuses to accept responsibility a lot of times. There are several instances in novels, games, and anime in which he owes debts to people and has no money to pay them because he's spent it all on pizza (another signature vice). By far, Dante is the more straightforward of the two Sparda twins. If he's thinking a certain thing, he'll let you know - whether or not this is a good idea. He often doesn't stop to think about what he's saying or doing until it's done and ends up getting into trouble because of this. Dante is also the more outgoing of the twins, making friends and enemies with equal ease and having a large group of people he knows. He is a bit slow to completely trust people, though, ending up with more acquaintances than true friends. He likes to party and go to clubs and bars just to hang out (or sometimes, to annoy his brother) and it's not very likely he'd pass up an invitation to go have a good time. Dante is also very confident in his abilities and will not hesitate to advertise this fact in any and every way available to him. [ History ] – Have you heard it ...? The legend of Sparda..? Dante and his twin brother Vergil are the sons of Sparda, a demon who led certain forces of hell against all the rest of the demons to protect the human world. After this, he left the demon world and lived in our world for quite some time, ruling over it quietly and taking on a more mortal lifespan. Sometime toward the end of this lifespan, he took a human wife named Eva. Dante and Vergil are the sons of Sparda and Eva ... inheriting human emotions from their mother and demonic power from their father. Of the twins, Dante was the more human of the two, his mother's favorite when they were children. As young children, both boys learned Latin, though Dante didn't like it and so has forgotten most of what he learned by this point. When the twins were thirteen, they were each given a sword on their birthday - Dante was given Rebellion while Vergil was given Yamato. At this point, their father began training them in the use of these weapons. He also taught them both hand-to-hand fighting and taught Dante how to shoot, though Vergil disdained firearms. The twins were also each given half of an amulet Sparda had given to his wife Eva as a wedding gift. When combined, this amulet formed the key to the Gate to Hell, which Sparda had locked when he came into the human world. Things went along fairly peacefully (aside from predictable bouts of sibling rivalry) until the twins were about thirteen-fourteen. At this point, both had begun to realize they liked the other ... in ways that brothers usually aren't supposed to like each other. Dante didn't think that his brother would return his feelings, however, so he sought companionship in just about any other way possible. Lying about his age and getting hold of several fake ID's, he went to clubs and bars and went home with several other men - most older than he was. Nearly every time this happened, Vergil had to go and drag him home the morning after. Finally, Vergil had had enough of it and let his twin know exactly how he felt about him. This resulted in the two sleeping together a single night. Dante then ended up going to a party the very next night - because he had promised some other friends he would go. While there, he sort of accidentally got drunk and went home with another guy again. Hurt and feeling betrayed, Vergil had to go and retrieve his twin yet again. This time, when they got close to home, though, the twins realized something was very, very wrong. A group of demons to had entered the human world and come after their father Sparda - weakened by his long stay in the human world. They took out the Dark Knight first and then went after Eva - and the twins, once the two of them arrived. At first, the twins tried to fight, but they were no match for the demons - especially the leaders of the group, named Amashen and Tiis. Eva urged the twins to run, to hide, even as she tried to hold off the demons using Sparda's guns, Luce and Ombra. This bought the twins time and Dante did run, though Vergil tried to stay and help. The last Dante saw of his twin was Vergil running back toward Eva even as she was cut down. For several years after this, Dante thought that Vergil, as well as his parents, was dead. The memories of that night were too painful for Dante to think about and so he buried them deep within his mind, almost instinctively creating an entirely new personality over the top of his real one. By the time he showed up again several years later, he had become Tony Redgrave - a mercenary in a nameless city with no real knowledge of his true identity or powers. He remembered selective bits of his childhood, and knew that demons had killed his family ... but little more than that. At this time, he was working out of an old run-down building in a back alley ... when he received an acceptance letter from an Academy he'd never even heard of, much less applied to. But still, he wasn't making any money at all currently, and going to school provided a prospect of a place to stay, steady food, and the chance to learn how to run a business a bit better, so he chose to go. According to recent RP, Dante has now remembered who he really is XD; So we can quit calling him Tony 8D; [ Pets ] – None, at the moment [ Other ? ] – Abilities/Strengths: Dante's demonic blood (from his father, Sparda) gives him several advantages over normal humans in strength, speed, and healing capabilities. He is also an excellent swordsman and brilliant marksman - able to shoot at different targets at the same time from both hands and usually hit what he's aiming at. He is also skilled at hand-to-hand combat, his style more of a brawler type or combination of things than any one form of martial arts. In the Devil May Cry 3 game, there are several different "styles" one can choose to play in, each of which has a different set of abilities attached to it. Any and all of these abilities could potentially be used by Dante (so long as they aren't deemed to be too dangerous). The styles available are: Trickster, for dodging and agility; Swordmaster, with extra abilities for swords and other melee weapons; Gunslinger, which has more techniques for firearms; Royal Guard, which allows the player to repel attacks with a properly-timed button press, and thereby charge energy for retaliation; Quicksilver, which slows down enemies while the character attacks at normal speed; Doppelgänger, creates a shadow double that fights alongside Dante (this pulled from Wikipedia article on the game). If more explanation of these various styles and abilities is needed, I can provide it and I probably won't be using them that often - but it should be mentioned that they exist. Dante also has the ability to shift into a much more demonic form for a limited amount of time when he is badly injured or angry enough to trigger the change. In the games, this ability is called "Devil Trigger" though it's very likely he won't be able to use this in the Econtra world as he is at least twice as dangerous in this form. While in Devil Trigger, Dante can fly and has access to any number of other powers, often depending on which weapon or weapons he is using at the time (including being able to call lightning with a couple of weapons). Weapons: Throughout the games and other sources, Dante uses a wide variety of weapons. So far as which weapons he will probably have on him when he is pulled into Econtra goes - most likely he will have Ebony and Ivory (heavily modified Colt 1911 pistols), Rebellion (a long broadsword which Dante can wield one or two-handed) and a guitar by the name of Nevan (which can call bats and electricity when played and can also shift to turn into a scythe). These weapons are based on the anime series. The guns and Rebellion are shown openly in the series and Dante is also seen carrying a guitar case - though the guitar itself has yet to show up, this is AU, so I'm going to take liberties and assume that's what's in the case. Aside from this, if he had access to them, Dante would also be able to use weapons in the following categories: chain whips, two smaller blades (one for each hand), weapons meant to enhance hand-to-hand combat (gauntlets, etc), and various other types of guns (shotgun, rocket launcher).
